First time post here, but I have been subscribed for a long time. I have the same story of: 'I've tried EVERYTHING to help my skin, nothing has worked, and my self esteem is in the toilet alongside many expensive skincare products that I have angrily squirt down the drain.' I have oily skin, but it dries out quickly when washed, and I have a serious problem with closed comedones (as well as picking at them and the resulting scarring - which I am doing better at stopping). For a while I have been using all kinds of chemicals (AHAs, BHAs, peals, sunscreans, etc.) and it has not helped, or usually, makes my skin worse. This past Saturday I went to the health food store and got supplies for a new skincare regimen and my skin is already doing so much better. I wanted to post this just in case I can help other people in my situation.
Face wash: I boiled about 1 cup of distilled water, added 2 tablespoons of sea salt, and 2 drops of tea tree oil. I squirt an ample amount on a little cotton round to wipe my face, then rinse (100 cotton rounds are about 99 cents at the drug store, and they exfoliate if you add a little pressure).
Moisturizer: Hemp seed oil. Cold pressed, kept in the refrigerator, and the same stuff that the health food store advertised for cooking, so nothing fancy. I rub it into my hands first and then massage onto my face.
The end.
This is my regimen. I do it twice a day (sometimes three times if I've had a particularly long day at work). My skin is hydrated, redness is going away, and the closed comedones are still there but getting smaller. It might not be much, and god knows it won't work for everyone, but I'm hoping this post will help at least one person.
