Am I wrong for my point of view? Advice

Am I a bad person for wanting to be selfish? In my adult life any time I have given, shared, or lent the favor was almost never repaid. I feel like people only care about themselves and can careless about integrity.

My experiences range from loaning thousands of dollars to a friend to people just raiding my food in the refrigerator. When I look at them weird because I don't receive a payment (not the whole thing just something) 9 months after I lent someone money, I am an asshole. Or when someone raids my food with no regard and I am like "hey, you can you at least ask before you eat all of my shit" people look at me like I am an asshole.

I don't get it. I try to be nice and give an inch and people take a mile. And yes, I understand you shouldn't lend money that your not willing to loose. I am not upset about the money, I am just flabbergasted that people have the nerve just take from someone, and get mad at them, even when they try to help out.

Because of my experiences I feel like society has just become a bunch of leeches. People will use you for what you will give them and when your done giving them what they want, they are done with you. Unfortunately, I can't stand these fake relationships. I would rather be a hermit, than to deal with the bs.

NOTE: Not everyone fits this generalization, but unfortunately I feel a lot of people do.

So am I wrong?
