I inherited a duplex a few years ago and I've been living in half of it. No one is in the other portion because the individuals who lived there prior left it looking really shitty and I also have no interest in being a landlord. In the portion I don't live in I ripped out all the kitchen cabinets and the appliances that no longer worked(dishwasher & stove). All that is left is a pretty good refrigerator. The tile floor in the kitchen has cracks and the floors throughout all look shitty, I also pulled all the carpets out. I took down the sheet rock in one of the bedrooms as the previous tenants plastered on some crap that couldn't be scraped up. The furnace is also busted. The portion I live in has new kitchen cabinets and is in good condition. My question is... Should I bother fixing up the place or just sell it as is? Is it worth it to spend some money now on making it move in ready or should I just knock some money off the price I'd be asking. How to I figure out what price to ask for? This is my first time selling a home and I'm trying to do this on my own. Thank you for any advice you can provide.
