My name is Sasha and I'm in Prague. I have to make this quick.
We decided to travel Europe together a few months ago. Put some money together, convinced our parents we wouldn't be part of a Taken scenario, and packed our bags. We started in France, and made our way here stopping in various places. We've stayed at cheap Hostels and have eaten crappy food...we're on a budget.
We arrived at the hostel last night. We had just taken the train in spontaneously from Berlin, and we had no place to stay so we stopped at a cheap hostel that was recommended to us by someone at the train station. It's in the Old Town part of Prague, hidden in some small alley. We were dumb enough to not look at the address of the street that we were in.
I realize now how stupid some of our actions were. I've traveled before, I should know better.
We woke up this morning and everything was closed up in the building. The windows are shut, the doors are locked, and the only light working is in a small communal living room with an old tv and dingy couches. Once in a while the bug light in the corner fizzes, so we know there has to be some sort of opening where flies are coming in.
We are the only ones here. I am currently typing on my tablet, with a a 3G sim card that I bought in Germany that's meant to work throughout Europe. There is no internet, and no computer. Our phones are dead and every outlet in the place isn't working. The one outlet in the living room where the tv is connected will not budge. It's like someone glued the plug to the socket and it just won't shake loose. There is also no remote, and the damn thing won't come on.
Our room is the only one where the beds are made. Every other room is either bare, or has empty furniture and bed frames. Last night there was someone at reception who showed us the way and carried our bags. Where the hell are they now?
We're not alone in this house and I can feel it. The refrigerator in the kitchen is stocked with food, which all of us have decided we shouldn't eat. Brad, the biggest guy in our group, has tried throwing himself against doors and windows, but I think they're boarded up from the outside because when we pulled the curtains apart all we saw was darkness.
We don't know what to do. There are six of us, including me. I've tried using Skype on my tablet to contact my parents, or the local authorities, or anyone else, but the calls don't go through. As part of our whole travel experience we decided to deactivate our facebooks before we left home. This was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime.
My tablet is dying and I will turn it off after I post this. The tv in the living room seems to have turned on, but it's just static.
I'll come back later and post an update, if I can. Lily is beginning to panic. I think we all are.
