Roommates. rant

For the most part, I like living with my roommates. I like being around people and I would be really lonely if I lived alone. But some people just do not know how to live with others and be respectful.

We have one of those Brita filters that you fill with water in a pitcher and it filters the water out. It holds a decent amount of water and we keep it in the refrigerator so it's cold when you want a drink. So what do you do when you use the last of the water? YOU REFILL IT. Why would you put a pitcher with an inch of water in it back in the fridge? What good does that do anyone else? It's my pitcher that I bought and nobody else feels the need to buy refill filters despite me asking several times.

Laundry machines. Everyone knows that you need to clean out the lint trap so your house doesn't catch on fire because of all the gunk in it. But my roommate just doesn't do it. No matter how many times you tell him to, he will not do it. So I'm stuck having to check for the lint every time I need to use the dryer. His loser boyfriend usually spends the weekend here, bringing his laundry with him. I'm sorry, do you pay the electricity and water bill? No? Then please do your own fucking laundry at your house. It might be 'free' for you here, but we pay for it fucker.

The trash can. No one likes to take the garbage out, especially now that it's cold and snowy. But if you fill it, take it out. Just take out the goddamn trash. The dumpster is literally ten feet from out front door. It's not far. It's not hard. I have witnessed one of my roommates throw food and other shit into the overflowing trash can and not take it out. When I asked him to take it out, he replied "oh, I usually wait for someone else to do it". Fuck off. I will throw this fucking trash into your dirty ass bed.

The dishwasher. We have a sign for if the dishwasher is clean or dirty, so it's easy to tell if it needs to be unloaded or if you can put your dishes in right away. Nobody has any problem starting the dishwasher, since all you have to do is put detergent in, twist a knob and change the sign to 'clean'. But God forbid anyone besides me unloads it. I got so pissed that one of my roommates hadn't unloaded the dishwasher since December, I just started putting his dishes on the counter. He confronted me about it, saying he did the dishwasher last week. I know when he does the dishwasher because he fucks up the placement of the cups in the cupboard no matter how many times you tell him where they actually go. Even if the dishwasher is dirty, there will be mounds of dishes in the sink with food still in them. We have a garbage disposal and a trash can you lazy fucks. Rinse it off and put it two feet to the left in the dishwasher so your dishes aren't sitting in the sink for days. And don't leave pots and pans sitting on the stove, put them in the fucking dishwasher. Jesus fucking Christ, it's right there. It's purpose is to hold your fucking dishes. That's all it does and it washes them for you. Either do that or wash them yourself and put it in the dishrack.

Lights. How does one go upstairs to their room and manage to leave on almost every single light in the house? How do you 'forget' to turn off a light? How do you say 'yep, I'm not going to turn off the light that is guiding me to my dirty fucking room. I think I'll leave that on'. You can literally see the hall light on because the light shines through under the door. Now I have to get up at 1 am and turn off the kitchen light, the hall light, the other hall light and the living room lamp.

Roommate's loser BF. All this shit seems to only happen when he comes over (no job, doesn't go to school). What makes you forget everything when he comes over? Are you a fucking moron who can't remember to a) turn off the light, b) LOCK THE FRONT DOOR, c) check the fucking lint trap when he does his laundry at OUR house, d) clean up your dishes, and e) take out the trash. It's actually all of the above.

My other roommates are fine. But Jesus Christ some people should just live alone and live in their own shitty mess and not subject unsuspecting others to their trash.
