I discovered this accidentally: I put my herbs in the fridge (not the freezer) since I wanted to keep them stored for a while. The next day, I noticed the herb had become very crisp and brittle, making it super easy to obtain a very fine grind in the finishing grinder.
My finishing grinder generally leaves a fair bit of residue on top when the herb is moist, but with the extra crispy ones it left almost no residue.
Also, I was worried this might cause the herb to lose it's potency, but after about 2 weeks it hasn't shown any signs of abating.
Just make sure to store it a container (I just used a baggie) or risk the entire refrigerator smelling.
