Connected home devices were prominent at CES last week, but I'm skeptical of how rapidly the trend will take off.
From what I've read I can see it becoming the norm in new construction, especially in large developments by a single builder, but I struggle to believe many of these technologies will be rapidly adopted in existing homes. That is, I can see a family considering a "connected" refrigerator if they were shopping for one already. But I don't see families choosing to buy a new fridge in order to take advantage of the technology.
I wrote up my thoughts on the connected home for my company's blog. I'm not an agent myself though, and I looked at only the big picture. I'm curious what things are like among individual agents and homebuyers.
