I was reading a Huffington Post piece this morning on coffee, and I noticed that one of the tips for good coffee was to avoid storing it in the fridge or freezer. This was because the article said this would dry the coffee out. I don't know whether they were talking about whole beans or ground if that makes a difference.
I have never stored my coffee beans in either the refrigerator or freezer, but I thought I was avoiding doing so to avoid exposing the beans or ground coffee to extra moisture or condensation.
I thought I remembered maybe seeing an episode of Good Eats where the thing about not storing beans in the freezer was addressed as a thing to avoid due to moisture, but I cannot find the blip from the episode (so maybe he said something, or maybe I was reading something on the subject while I was watching the show, which is plausible for me.)
So who is right here? Are we avoiding drying out or avoiding exposure to moisture by not storing coffee in the fridge or freezer? And can you give me a source?
