"Oh...didn't expect to see you here." TalesFromRetail

A while back I posted a few stories about my experience as a bicycle mechanic with a larger sporting goods store, and had one more story to share with y'all from that time after i had just quit that job about one year ago.

After I had quit, I picked up work assembling pump control panels for dry docks. It was good pay at $20/hr with lots of opportunity for overtime. It also helped that our foreman/boss was very good about getting us the equipment we needed whether it be for work or for our breaks. Example, he saw our mini fridge and asked if we used that to store our lunches to which we said yes. Within 2 hours he had a new full size refrigerator in the break room for us.

I was loving this new job. No annoying customers, the boss was great and the workplace was calm and relaxed as all of us got along. Now I chew tobacco pretty heavily (Copenhagen mint long cut for anybody wondering) and one day I asked the bossman if I could chew on the job. He replied "Sure man. As long as you still are productive I think it's fine." So after that I was always bringing my can and/or logs to work.

Then one day, I walk in to work and go to pack in more chew in my lip when I realize that I left my can in my car. I go back out to my car to retrieve said can when who do I see? A former manager and coworker from my old place of work near where I parked making out. Or at least appeared to be. They seemed to be all up on each other. I stood there in shock not sure what to do, then they must've felt someone staring at them. They noticed me and had the same look of shock as well. That was when my former manager said "Hey...didn't expect to see you here..."

Wordlessly I grabbed my can from my car and scurried back inside my work, embarrased about the whole thing.
