I'm drowning
The hardwood floors haven't been swept
They smell of stomps and unwelcome soil
Fingers pushing themselves into grain and rice
The table shakes but I save the wine glass
I'm drowning in you
The television outshouts the boredom
It yells and dances on its shelf
Spiders telling secrets in their cracks and corners
The refrigerator's running but I trip on the cord
I'm drowning in your gaze
The pictures all leap from the wall
The frozen faces crack and shatter on the floor
Neighbors making love in the afternoon and midnight
My tooth was missing but you liked my smile
I'm drowning
