DIY Cleansing Balm DIYBeauty

DIY Cleansing Balm

My first couple of /r/DIYBeauty inspired creations were DIY Niacinamide Toner (94.5% Witch Hazel Hydrosol, 5% Niacinamide and 1% Optiphen) and DIY NiaNag Toner. Now, I've ventured into the realm of cleansers. I was inspired by /u/introvertitude's comment to make DIY Cleansing Balm. I plan to use it as sunscreen/makeup remover then follow with a foaming cleanser.

Ingredients

Directions

Melt white petrolatum in a small saucepan on the lowest heat setting of a stove. In a bowl, combine aloe vera juice, glycerin and Optiphen via a whisk. Once fully melted, remove white petrolatum from the heat source and whisk gently. Let the mixture cool for a couple minutes then add Cromollient SCE and the aloe vera juice/glycerin mixture. Whisk until the water-based ingredients and oil-based ingredients are emulsified. Let the mixture cool for a couple minutes, pour it into a 4 oz plastic jar with a dome lid and let stand at room temperature (or place in the refrigerator or freezer) to solidify. To use, apply to dry skin, massage, emulsify with water and rinse. Follow with cleanser (optional).
