My almost-4-year-old just started preschool, and I have to pack his lunch each day. They don't have a microwave or refrigerator for the kids lunches - it's all straight out of whatever lunch bag they bring.
I have a good insulated bag for him, but I'm trying to make sure he has a little variety. They don't have nut or nut butter restrictions, fortunately, so he's done peanut butter & banana sandwiches (I generally do fresh fruit instead of jelly to cut down on extra sugar) as well as turkey sandwiches, raw veggies (thus far carrots, broccoli, and cucumber), a fruit (pear, banana, or sliced apples), and I did goldfish once as a treat and they came back untouched.
What else can I do that's simple, finger-foody (he's still mastering cutlery and I'd like to be as conscientious as possible, for the sake of his teachers), and stays well without additional refrigeration or heating?
