Any suggestions on getting a permanent smell out of a refrigerator? cleaning

I purchased a home and the appliances were included. Upon moving into the home I discovered that the refrigerator has a very intense smell that permeates both the fridge and the freezer compartments. The appliance appeared clean upon my arrival, but I've tried everything to no avail.

Here are the things I've tried:

  1. Remove tray from under fridge, clean and replaced.

  2. Wiped down entire fridge with disinfectant

  3. Wiped down with water and baking soda.

  4. Wiped down with water, baking soda, and dawn dish soap.

  5. Wiped down with water, baking soda, dawn dish soap and vinegar.

  6. Placed baking soda in fridge to absorb smell.

  7. Placed charcoal unit in fridge to absorb smell.

  8. Wiped all surfaced down with lemon, then wiped clean with water.

  9. Placed baking soda in vinegar in fridge to absorb smell.

  10. Removed everything from the appliance, unplugged, and let defrost for days.

  11. Vacuumed back of the appliance to remove dust and other build up.

None of these have worked. The smell absorbs into my food and makes it inedible. Any suggestions beyond what I've tried above?
