Hello /r/headphones!
I could use some help with an absolutely baffling and slightly scary (electrically speaking) issue I've been having with my Modi 2.
At first I thought it was the well-documented Windows port power management issue, but I've already applied the fixes to both Device Manager and the registry to no avail. However, the issue I'm having is slightly different. Occasionally, when audio is playing, the audio will stop, and a moment later I'll hear the "device disconnected" sound effect. Incidentally, I don't hear the "device reconnected" sound afterward. However, after seeing this issue happen a couple dozen times in the last week, I've made two very strange observations:
Depending on which application is playing audio, different things will happen. If I'm playing a YouTube video, the audio will generally come back after a few seconds. If I'm playing music in foobar2000, foobar2000 will crash. If I'm playing games on Steam, my entire computer will hang and require a restart!
(The somewhat scary part) This issue always occurs simultaneously with my refrigerator's compressor turning off. The fridge is on the other side of the room, and on a different electrical circuit from the computer. The computer is on a surge protector, and all of the cables I'm using are shorter than 3 feet.
What.
I'm also emailing Schiit with this question, but if anyone in the community has some perspective, I'd like to hear it. Thanks!
