So my brother in law just got married to his long time boyfriend last month and we had their wedding invite posted on our refrigerator, the same as anyone else's. When we put the picture up it sparked a few conversations with our 8 and 4 year old about how two boys or two girls can get married if they love each other. They accepted this and moved on. It was not upsetting or earth shattering for them at all.
Yesterday, while riding in the car, the 4 year old starts asking my 8 year old who he is going to marry. 8 year old says "I don't know." 4 year old says, "You can marry a boy if you want." 8 year old says, "That's true."
I love my kids more than anything and I am so glad they will be able to love whoever they want, with no guilt or pressure from anyone.
