Every appliance in my home has a serial number on it. Phone, tablet, TV, laptop, watch, refrigerator... Some of them are long, some are short, some make sense, most make no sense at all. Some have letters, some are only numbers... Who "thinks" about this and what does a process of assigning a number to product looks like? And are there any meanings behind those numbers? I can't believe they are random.
P.S. And while we're at it, how, for example, AcerAspire5100 got it's name? Why the next model isn't called 5101?
