I'm pretty convinced that people don't care about the planet. source: the dinner table when I bring up being vegan Showerthoughts

Going [atleast] vegetarian is the simplest way to help the planet and yourself. for those that have the means to do so, yet refuse, yet claim they want a better (or any) future for planet Earth, it seems like the uttermost self defeating argument.

Given the constant reproach I get over being vegan and fucking PLEADING FOR COMMON SENSE, I get the feeling that people really just don't give a fuck, which makes the climate march in New York that I attended recently (something like 400thousand people) seem really hollow and self-celebratory.

EDIT for clarity of position :

This is comming from a guy who went vegitarian while being homless at 20 years old, and who knew almost nothing about nutrition. The motivation behind my decision was common sense given the available information and the (at that time) high school health class information I retained. The only food that was available to me was shelter food which was mostly meat and salad (I'd refuse the meat and eat the salad, maybe a banana). As an American I eventually received food stamps (federal program:money for groceries) bcos no job. Once I landed a job I continued my change and eventually went full vegan. I receive the argument that it is difficult to do on a low salary, but I have to say I hear that mostly from people who haven't even tried or who feel they don't know enough (nor do they want to take the time) to have a vegetarian/vegan refrigerator. Depending on where you live and what's available it seriously only takes some effort to find out how to pull it off, and if you genuinely want to help with the miserable condition of our planet and make a difference in your children's ideology, that is, giving them a more sensible lifestyle that they won't get in public schools, it's far beyond worth the effort to try.

(I'm 23 years old now, a little more knowledgeable, and have had no health problems in all the time since my transition).
