He went missing five years ago... nosleep

I just want to begin by saying that i am writing on my phone so i apologize for any misspellings.

Maybe i should begin by introducing myself. All names will be changed, including my own, so you can call me Charlie.

My grandparents lived in the mountains, about a two hour drive from where i live, so we. Visited them often in the summer time and sometimes during the breaks. Summertime is when i would usually see my cousins aswell, who all lived around the US, but would travel just for one week during the fourth of july weekend to celebrate with us. My cousin Toby and I were basically inseparable. Wherever I was, Toby wasnt too far behind. Toby was older by three months, but was kind of a baby, always crying when he didnt get his way. But boy, you'd be surprised by how adventurous that boy could be. Ive always been considered the outgoing one, and usually knew how to turn my nose when i found the situation unfit. But Toby always made everything sound so amazing, that more often than not I was following him into a room that my grandparents forbade us from entering.

The year Toby went missing, we were both 13. He had been calling me everyday just a few weeks before the annual trip to my grandparents, explaining that he had something very important to show me. I was now at that awkward stage where I was anxious to prove to my parents that i could behave myself and act like an adult, but once again i was fascinated by the thought of another adventure with my favorite cousin. I thought about ditching Toby to hang out with one of my older cousins, like Johnna who was 16, or Andrew who was 14, but immediantly thought against it the minute i heard "Terrifying" come from the other end of the phone. Once again, he had me hooked.

When we finally got to my grandparents house, Toby was waiting silently for me on the front steps with something in his hand. It was a phone. I remember being so upset that Toby got a phone before me that i almost went up to my aunt to beg her to take it from him just so i wouldnt feel left out, but i felt stupid and decided not to. Maybe if i had, things would be different, and Toby would still be here. Toby had developed his own style and his voice had gotten much deepet from the time i last saw him. He didnt dress up in colorful t-shirts, and instead had a red flannel on and, from what i could see, had mastered a few tricks on the skateboard that he begged his parents to get him on his 13th birthday. I too had grown up, wearing a few sun dresses but still prefering jeans and a t-shirt over a skirt anyday.

Everyone had a separate room, all except Toby and I who didnt mind to share amyhow. After the adults called lights out, and everyone was in bed, I remember very distinctly watching Toby sit up in his bed and walk over to mine, laying down beside me like we did when we were kids and pulling out his phone.

"Check out what i got!" He smiled proudly at me. He told me that he begged his parents to get it for him, insisting that it was a necessity for every teen to have one. Needless to say, he didnt have to beg for too long because within a matter of days he had his own flip phone. It was a prepaid phone, with only a certain amount of minutes, but Toby and I didnt care. A phone was a phone.

"Is this all you wanted to show me?" I was tired of listening to him brag and just wanted to go to sleep. toby shook his head.

"We havent even had our advebture yet!" He said, and began to dial in numbers and then a phone number. I had seen my older brother Drew do this multiple times with his friends and knew immediantly that he wanted to prank call someone.

I knew Toby would have something good planned and instantly got that tingly feelung in the pit of my stomach when I got excited. We sat up and called a few people, most of them either never picking up or hanging up after Toby said "is your refrigerator running?". All except for one call. I remember looking at the time just minutes before he called. It was at 3:30.

Toby lifted the phone to his ear and smiled at me then opened his mouth to speak. But nothing came out. His face went pale and his eyes grew wide and he quickly shut the phone. He refused to tell me what the guy said on the phone and just went to bed. The next day he wouldnt talk to me, and refused to go outside. I was terrified and insisted that he tell our parents what happend but he just kept saying, "let it go Charlie. i dont want to talk about it".

He seemed desperate to stay at my grandmas for a while longer but when everyone began to leave, he had no choice but to go with his family back to his home in Iowa. He didnt even wave to me when he left in his car.

A week after calling and trying to get ahold of him, we were informed that Toby went missing during the night. Wr searched for over a year, but had no luck.

to this day I still have no clue what he heard that night that spooked him so bad but lately ive been getting strange calls myself.

Toby went missing nearly 5 years ago. Im telling you all this story because im terrified right now. I cant sleep because i get a phone call from an unknown caller at the same time every night, around 3:30 in the morning, the samw time Toby and I made that prank call. Everytime i answer it I hear static, and what sounds like someone saying my name over and over again.

I havr no idea what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Ill update if i get any more information on whats going on.

Im sorry if this doesnt sound scary, but its freaking me out. Please help me nosleep.
