The other week I started noticing a few red-eyed little white fruit flies buzzing around my kitchen and bathroom. Typically I do not kill insects, but before long dozens of these flies had made their home in my apartment and I saw no other choice. I could not stay still for a moment without one of them landing on me. So I made several fruit fly traps using vinegar and soap, and eventually I resorted to swatting at them. All in all, I killed about twenty flies. I leaned that they like water and sugar, so I now keep the bathroom and kitchen clean and dry as well as keep fruit in the refrigerator. Although I do consider my actions morally wrong, I don't know what else I could have done. What are your opinions on killing insects in your home? Does anyone know of a more friendly way to deal with a fruit fly infestation?
