What do you think of this new dining club/restaurant concept? Advice

Hello fellow redditors! I’m a longtime reader/viewer of reddit and happy to be making my first post – especially one where I’m seeking our community’s advice, thoughts, and questions on the following…

My colleagues and I are in the process of opening a dining club that celebrates the feeling of community. In an effort to craft our member experience, we're looking to our local landscape (food purveyors) and delving into our ingredients and culture – all to be executed by a rotating collective of 10 chefs (experience at James Beard Award winning restaurants). We are located in Boston and will be expanding to an additional six North American cities.

What is Borough Kitchen?

A dining club and destination for delicious food where you can relax, have fun, be social, and enjoy your experience.

Who goes to Borough Kitchen?

Core market is 24 to 36 year old professionals.

How does Borough Kitchen work?

  1. Sign up for membership on our website. $175 per month is good for 4 meals and full access to club facilities and social events. (Note: Our website is just a landing page; we will be building it out soon.)

  2. Place a meal order on-line or in-person – for either sit down or take out (we assume approx. 20%-25% of meals to be take out). If you would like to prepare your own food, make a reservation (approx. 2 hours) for space in the private kitchen.

  3. Arrive at Borough Kitchen, check in, and enjoy your meal and experience. We will be BYOB and will direct members to our “preferred partner” liquor stores, where members will get a discount on their purchase. We are partnering with an app that facilitates the delivery of liquor (beer, wine, etc.) directly to members at our location as well.

Why would I go to Borough Kitchen?

Access to the most unique social and eating experience provided by a rotating collective of 10 innovative, professional chefs in your city – for either sit down or take out.

Feeling inspired? You have access to a private kitchen where you can prepare and cook meals for yourself, a group of friends, or your family. Non-members will count as guests (each guest counts as one meal, assuming she/he eats).

Scenarios:

  1. It’s Tuesday night, it’s late, and you don’t have enough energy to cook at home. Go onto our website and pull up the menu for the chef cooking that evening (example: option A, B, C, or D) - or check out what’s in the refrigerator. If you don’t like any of the options, well free to place a tailored order based on what’s in the refrigerator. From there, place your order on-line and request the time that you would like to pick up your meal. When you pick it up, you can either eat it at our location or bring it home.

  2. It’s Saturday night and you’ve been dating your significant other for a few months. You want to show off your cooking skills or want to do something together that’s fun/different/helps you bond/memorable. Make a 2 hour reservation for our private kitchen (if you have a specific request for a type of food or spice (beyond what we have), feel free to ask for it and we’ll make sure it’s there for you). When you arrive, you’ll have full access to what’s in the refrigerator (and any requests), will utilize our high-end, private kitchen to prepare your dinner, and relax in private while you enjoy the food and, more importantly, each other’s company. Don’t worry if you lack cooking skills, we’ll have chefs on-site to help out.

  3. It’s Thursday night and you want to go out and eat. Go onto our website and pull up the menu for the chef cooking that evening (example: option A, B, C, or D) - or check out what’s in the refrigerator. If you don’t like any of the options, well free to place a tailored order based on what’s in the refrigerator. From there, select what table and time you would like to sit down (say, at 8:00PM) and request that your meal (say, option B) be ready by 8:30PM.

Your advice, thoughts, and questions would be appreciated!
