I've got a decent solar system. 240W monocrystalline panels, two trojan 6V 240Ah batteries, and a 600W pure sine wave inverter.
I was reading this article which talks a bit about the options:
the 12V cooler is definately out, and the ARB fridges are out of my price range. I'm interested in going the DIY route. Sound like chest freezers are much more power effecient due to their design and insulation. They recommend a specific freezer, but i'm hoping to pick up something on craigslist.
has anyone done this conversion before? How much power did your freezer consume? Is there a lot of variance from model to model?
