I recently sold off everything I own except my Jeep, my tools, my cameras and my bike to move to Florida to start a new business. I used the last of my money to rent an office. I was working late last night at said office and decided I wanted to have a beer, to cope with the stress of getting this off the ground. There’s a keg refrigerator in the shared kitchen of the building and I poured a beer from the tap. While pouring, I heard my phone ringing in the other room, so I jammed the tap handle shut, grabbed my near-full beer, and ran to my office hoping it was a potential client calling to hire me. It was a telemarketer. I should have known. What I didn't know is that upon slamming the tap handle closed, it bounced halfway back open and continued to pour beer... until all of the beer was gone, which I discovered when I went back to the kitchen an hour later and there was lager covering the entire kitchen floor. I frantically called the landlord and told him of the problem and proceeded to use a dustpan, mop, and bucket to skim and soak the beer up until the cleaner arrived with a vacuum. We cleaned everything spotless and it appeared as though it never happened. However, just a few hours ago (4pm EST) I learned that the beer had soaked through the 2nd floor into the ceiling of the company below me. It ruined an expensive light fixture, a large TV, and damaged a sizeable area of the ceiling. I do not have insurance and also have less than $100 in my account after paying my bills for the month. If anyone’s feeling charitable, I have a gofundme right now. You can find it by searching Accidental damage to office bldg.
Cheers.
TL;DR: Accidentally left a beer tap running in my office kitchen and got the ceiling of the company below me expensively plastered.
