I just can't today breakingmom

  1. Our oven is dead. D.E.A.D. dead. I currently don't know if the stove top still works, but the oven will not preheat above 254°F. It's been acting funny for months, and I think it finally shat itself. Who knows when the landlord will replace it. (I'd recently cleaned the sucker too.) I guess it's time to see if our special toaster oven still works.

  2. The cats are acting like they're tripping balls on catnip, but they haven't had any in months. It's driving me crazy.

  3. Apparently Al has decided to turn his volume up to 11 whenever he's around a sleeping Levi. Poor baby boy hasn't had a full nap yet today.

  4. The church my boys go to on Wednesdays is having a kid's night out/valentines party deal tonight. That's awesome. But we have no one willing to watch the baby. (The only one who would is going out with her husband, and I'm happy they're getting a chance to go out because they work their butts off for their family.) Hubby is upset, but I understand. But we will have a few hours free of the older two.

  5. Levi has officially started solids. (First stage baby food solids, but still, solids.) I had forgotten how much of a drastic change in color his poop will be after he eats. So far he hates the cereal and the apples, but loves the pears and bananas. I'm not too worried about variety at the moment. But, he wants to eat every time he sees us eat. And has since he was 3 months old. He's already my biggest baby (probably up to 16lbs by now -- because he's been steadily gaining about 2lbs a month since birth). It's like he's in a rush to out grow his older brothers.

  6. I'm about ready to duct tape Al's mouth shut if he doesn't stop the screaming, yelling, whining crap he's had all morning. Even in the next room he threatens to wake the sleeping baby with it. (He was just so loud that I couldn't hear my music that's on at a reasonable volume.) Yes, I've mentioned him twice now. Meh. (I'd never really do it, but it's almost relaxing to visualize it and imagine...)

  7. We're supposed to go grocery shopping as a family as soon as hubby is off work at 2pm (20 minutes from now while I'm typing this). I have no idea if he'll get off in time, or what we're gonna do with Rusty. I'd rather not take Rusty with me. It's bad enough dealing with my own kids. That, and the back seat of the SUV usually gets folded down to make room for food.

  8. I'm going to have to hunt for clean clothes for the kids. I haven't done laundry, and I don't have time now. I found clean clothes for the baby, so that counts, right?

  9. I'm still feeling like crap. Don't know if I'm just having a bad onset of weird hormones accompanying my period of if it's a genuine bug of some sort. I'm kinda hoping for the hormones because at least that way it wouldn't be contagious.

  10. I have no idea when I'll have an oven again, and this just blows. A lot of my meals require an oven. I really hope our toaster over works. I have no idea when this one will get replaced. It's worrisome to try to come up with a backup meal plan just in case the whole thing is dead. Any good ideas for meals that can be done in a crock pot and microwave? Because that's all I know about at the moment that really works.

  11. I just scared my cat who was trying to tear up a towel in the bathroom my putting it in the tub and turning on the water. He didn't get wet, but he bolted out of there and hopefully won't go back.

  12. I'd rather go back to bed because apparently I can't deal with anything today. I have a feeling the store is going to be packed. I should have gone this morning but I didn't feel well (part of my problem was that I hadn't had anything real to eat since yesterday at lunch). So now we all go.

  13. I have a sneaking suspicion that our replacement stove/oven is going to be another second/third/fourth/hundredth hand barely working thing like we've dealt with before. And if it had been me to tell him, I'm sure he would have treated me like I was stupid (he being the landlord). Thankfully hubby went next door to tell them.

  14. It's currently three minutes until 2. No one is ready and I don't even know if we're gonna be able to go this afternoon or if we're gonna have to wait until our almost child free time... it needs to get done today because Levi is almost out of formula.

Edit/update: Landlord told hubby to test to see if the broiler part of the over still worked ... surprise, surprise it didn't. /s I just think he doesn't want to shell out the money for another stove. But it's in our lease that he will replace appliances and have maintenance done on them. Only reason we replaced the refrigerator when it died was because we could get one sooner through rent a center and it'd be bigger than what he was going to replace it with. (Now we're contemplating buying our own fridge with tax return monies.)

Rusty's mom said that she would be over shortly to pick him up (yay!!!) but, shortly could mean sitting around for 2+ hours. Lady has problems being on time. (If we end up having time to go grocery shopping before dropping the kids off tonight, we're probably going to drop off Rusty at his house if she hasn't shown up by then.)

I had forgotten, but hubby wanted to go to a you pull it type place to find a part for the SUV, so that's where he's at now. He offered to take John and Rusty, but I said no. They're being good. That and I found out after he left that Darlene was going to come and pick him up. Hopefully that will be soon.

Al has this weird thing now where he wants to play with (in his mouth) and eat my hair that has shed all over the place. I told him that if he kept it up that the only way to fix it was to cut him open to remove it because it wouldn't be pooped out... Didn't phase him. He keeps doing it. Damn. I think I may have scared Rusty and John with that speech though. (The were present, and I snapped. I told him the truth. Yes, I reverted to scare tactics and didn't even phase my five year old.

I was going to make cupcakes with the boys tomorrow... I guess I'll have to see if the toaster oven works. (Brownie cupcakes. They sound so delicious right now...)

Hopefully we'll know about the oven situation tomorrow at the latest. Should have told the landlord about it the other day when it tripped the breaker (it's on it's own breaker) when we had two burners and the oven on. Well, he probably would have waited until now anyways. We told him about it beeping and giving us this error code during the summer and he did nothing. He'd only rather fix the problem at the last minute when something breaks than maintain it. (I'm pretty sure the roaches killed the thing. He bombed the house before we moved in, and that's all he's done about the pest problem. I really hope something goes on the books in this state so he can be liable for the roaches. I'm sure he might even get some sort of discount with a local pest company to come out and spray all the places -- because they'll just migrate over from the neighbors even if we killed them all here. I'd pay a little extra in rent a month if it helped cover the pest contract.)

After I get off here, I'm gonna get off my rear, clean off the counter-top around the toaster oven, plug it in, and see if it works. (Needless to say that after three days of not working on my kitchen it shows - that and the toaster oven is on the side I really haven't tackled yet.)
