It was the weekend. Norman awoke at his usual 6:00 A.M. He slid his feet into his slippers that were carefully placed at the bed and draped himself in a blue cotton robe. Norman made his way into the kitchen. He had scheduled his coffee maker to start at 5:55 A.M. Recently, the coffee maker had been sporadically not working. Norman had been meaning to buy a new one, but would need to save some money first. The coffee maker worked today and his aromatic brew awaited him. He opened the refrigerator with a yawn and examined his coffee creamer. Expired. Norman showered and picked out a sensible outfit. White button up, blue jeans and no tie. He drove to a nearby Starbucks. Norman decided to use the drive thru, even though it looked busier than inside. After 10 minutes in line, it was Norman's turn. "Hi! Would you like to try our new salted caramel frappuchino?!" The speaker squeaked. Norman replied, "no, thank you." The young girl inside persisted, "are you sure? They're really tasty and only $4." Norman didn't want to disappoint as he answered an unsure, "yes." He pulled forward and paid his 4 dollars with a smile and a thank you. As Norman passed the trash can placed at the end of the drive thru line, he threw the drink away. In his head, Norman mapped a route to the gas station to get creamer for tomorrow's coffee. He thought, "I'm awake enough already today."
