Day 4: Return of the Entitled. TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Doing a bellman shift yesterday, bad a huge conference check in. As most people in hospitality know, large conference groups are on a "first-come, first-serve" basis with room selection.

Basically, the earlier you book or the earlier you arrive, it works out better.

Lady checks in with her daughter and granddaughter at 9:45pm, well after 500 other rooms in her group checked in. This lady decides to complain about her room type to me and how we can't "accommodate" her properly.

  1. As I said, 500 rooms checked in prior. We don't have that many at the hotel. We have villas that people were already being sent to. This bitch is lucky to have gotten into a hotel room.

  2. It's 9:45pm. We don't hold rooms.

  3. She was in an upgraded room complaining about there not being a sofa bed. We gave her a rollaway, microwave, and extra refrigerator for no charge. Still decides to complain.

EB will once again represent "Entitled Bitch"

EB: I talked to Habajama downstairs, and be said I was supposed to get a king room.

Me: Yes, you're...in a king room.

EB: I don't see a sofa bed.

Me: That's because you're in the new wing of the hotel.

EB: Well this is disappointing that you can't accommodate me.

Me: What time is it?

EB: Um...about 10pm.

Me: Mmhmm, and how many folks are with your conference?

EB: Around 500 rooms.

Me: Well, we have less than that at the hotel. You're also, and I'm not exaggerating, one of the last 10 guests to check in tonight. You're also the only one booked for the hotel. This is literally the last room available.

EB: So there's no chance of a room move?

Me: Unless you want to move to HerpDerp Hotel down the street, which charges well above your conference rate that WILL NOT get honored, no.

EB: Well SOMEONE owes me an apology!

Me: Good luck finding out who that is. I fear you won't like the answer.

EB stands there very confused, still tips me.

Life is still good.
