I was working late in a dark office when I received the call announcing my impending death nosleep

I was working late in a dark office when I received the call announcing my impending death. The sudden vibration of the phone on my desk woke me from my work induced trance. I became instantly aware of the fact that I was floating in space in the vacuum of a dark room left behind by the setting sun. I had been forsaken by all light. While I had been battling reports and constructing walls of numbers on a white screen, my room had slowly sunk into the murky depths. My only remaining companion, a small desk lamp nearby, cast long harsh shadows on the walls as I reached for the growling phone.

The call was coming from my wife. She no doubt was upset that I was still at work at 9:00 in the evening and was eager to find out how I was. Had I eaten? Was I leaving soon? I prepared myself to say no to both of these questions, and ran a weary hand through my hair as I brought the phone to my ear.

But the voice on the other end of the line was not my loving and concerned wife. In fact, it wasn’t a voice at all. The noise that greeted me when I answered the phone was a blank wall of silence. “Hello?” There was no response. I grew quiet and as I listened closely I could sense something deeper. Something hiding in the foggy distance behind the silence. A soft wet breathing sound.

“Hello?” I said several times more.

I was about to hang up and call back when the thing on the bottom of the silent lake slowly surfaced to speak into my ear.

“where. are you?” it asked quietly.

It was clearly one of my children.

“Clara?” I asked, hesitantly. Sometimes my 5-year old calls me on her mother's phone.

There was another uncomfortable silence as the thing dipped back into the dark pool and then once more surfaced.

“where. are you?” it repeated.

“Lydia?” it was clearly her at this point. Her broken slurred sentences and disembodied inflection was telltale. Somehow my 3-year old daughter had figured out how to call me at my office. My heart settled slightly with the realization. “Lydia, sweetie. I’m at work. I’m working on something and I’ll be home soon.”

She was quiet once more. Teasing me in the distance. “Lydia, I’m going to have to go so I can-“

“when. are you going to die?” the question came abruptly and in an even tone.

“What?” Surely I had misheard her jaunting and delicately lisped question.

“when. are you going to die?” she repeated. Her voice came from far away in space and I had to pour my head into the phone to make out the words. But they were there.

I took a deep breath trying to understand where her question might be coming from. “Lydia, sweetie. I don’t know when I’m going to die. No one knows.”

She slithered back into my ear once more and tauntingly responded. “i know.”

“What?”

“i know. when. you are going to die.”

I stared at my reflection in my office window. I saw a tired man standing in an intricately mirrored reproduction of my office. I saw the warped reflection of his lamp burning on the far side of the room, and the deep shadows that surrounded his eyes as they stared back into mine. We stared back and forth into each other for several heart beats. He looked stricken, and baffled. He held a phone up to his head with a slightly trembling hand. He opened his mouth to speak but before the words could escape his lungs he exploded into a cloud of leaves as a tree superimposed inside of his office shivered violently with a passing gust of wind. I decided to sit down.

“Lydia. When is Daddy going to die?” I asked her gently.

The child’s response was simple. “tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” I asked. “Are you sure?”

“yes.” she said. “i know. because mom told me.”

I rested my forehead in my hand as I leaned onto my desk. The phone line had returned to soft static. My office refrigerator grumbled to life in the other room.

“Lydia, I’m going to hang up now, okay? I’ll talk to you when I get home.”

There was no response. After a few moments I hung up the phone. A few moments after that, I walked across the room and turned the light on. Although I had planned to work for several more hours, I decided I should maybe go and enjoy what might be my last evening on Earth. I burst through the door a few minutes later and was greeted by a parade of happy children, the last carried in the arms of a smiling wife. I kissed them each on the forehead and tucked them into bed. I took special notice of young Lydia, who seemed more appreciative than ever for my attention. I read both my girls a story and turned off the lights. As I climbed into bed I told my wife what had happened that night in the office. She stuck her head out of the bathroom door with a toothbrush in her mouth. “She said that? Huh…” She returned to showing her teeth to herself in the bathroom mirror. I imagined the bared teeth hidden from my view. “I wonder what she could have been talking about.” she said a few moments later.

I narrowed my eyes. I wonder as well. The deadline has since passed, and I’m still here. But yet again, I’m working a late evening in my office as the sun slowly sneaks away behind the mountain. And as the darkness invades I am suddenly aware of my silhouette reflection sitting at a computer outside the window. His face glows white with a wall of numbers on his screen. Diverting my eyes I soundlessly shut off my computer and head for the door.

[General] One of my Favorite Fall Poem,"How To Like It" by Stephen Dobyns Poetry

How To Like It

These are the first days of fall. The wind

at evening smells of roads still to be traveled,

while the sound of leaves blowing across the lawns

is like an unsettled feeling in the blood,

the desire to get in a car and just keep driving.

A man and a dog descend their front steps.

The dog says, Let's go downtown and get crazy drunk.

Let's tip over all the trash cans we can find.

This is how dogs deal with the prospect of change.

But in his sense of the season, the man is struck

by the oppressiveness of his past, how his memories

which were shifting and fluid have grown more solid

until it seems he can see remembered faces

caught up among the dark places in the trees.

The dog says, Let's pick up some girls and just

rip off their clothes. Let's dig holes everywhere.

Above his house, the man notices wisps of cloud

crossing the face of the moon. Like in a movie,

he says to himself, a movie about a person

leaving on a journey. He looks down the street

to the hills outside of town and finds the cut

where the road heads north. He thinks of driving

on that road and the dusty smell of the car

heater, which hasn't been used since last winter.

The dog says, Let's go down to the diner and sniff

people's legs. Let's stuff ourselves on burgers.

In the man's mind, the road is empty and dark.

Pine trees press down to the edge of the shoulder,

where the eyes of animals, fixed in his headlights,

shine like small cautions against the night.

Sometimes a passing truck makes his whole car shake.

The dog says, Let's go to sleep. Let's lie down

by the fire and put our tails over our noses.

But the man wants to drive all night, crossing

one state line after another, and never stop

until the sun creeps into his rearview mirror.

Then he'll pull over and rest awhile before

starting again, and at dusk he'll crest a hill

and there, filling a valley, will be the lights

of a city entirely new to him.

But the dog says, Let's just go back inside.

Let's not do anything tonight. So they

walk back up the sidewalk to the front steps.

How is it possible to want so many things

and still want nothing. The man wants to sleep

and wants to hit his head again and again

against a wall. Why is it all so difficult?

But the dog says, Let's go make a sandwich.

Let's make the tallest sandwich anyone's ever seen.

And that's what they do and that's where the man's

wife finds him, staring into the refrigerator

as if into the place where the answers are kept-

the ones telling why you get up in the morning

and how it is possible to sleep at night,

answers to what comes next and how to like it.

Socially awkward genius kid sends me creepy emails for months...Should I be concerned? TwoXChromosomes

I was spending time down on a beach with my friend after a night of drinking. We were minding our own business and hanging out, just trying to sober up...being silly. This guy came out of nowhere and sat down on the rocks next to us. He was in his early 20s or so. Scrawny and awkward. He told us that he graduated from college when he was 16 and was involved with law. He asked me if it would be inappropriate to ask to hold my hand and I told him he couldn't. We parted ways and I gave him my email because I was drunk and I thought he was pretty hilarious. I was just expecting a bunch of socially awkward e-mails. Never did I expect what I got the next day and for the next 2 months after this night. Read some of them attached here. A couple days ago I was in walmart when this same guy came up to me. I didn't recognize him at first until he made a comment about all the rings on my fingers. That night on the beach he had commented on them, and in an e-mail he questioned the reasoning behind wearing so many of them. He linked it to being involved with terrible men in the past. He handed me a white envelope and told me it was an invitation. He told me to think about it and then walked away.

My Personal Philosophies of the Principle of Consent

Jurisprudence is the philosophy of law. Below are some of my personal philosophies of the principle of consent. There are three basic ideas to understand consent: 1) the right to refuse to express consent; 2) clearly defining consent, and 3) the right to revoke consent at any time. 1) Right to Refuse Consent A person has the absolute right to refuse to express consent to any activities. 2) Clearly Defining Consent What is consent? Consent is not a waiver of free will. I define consent as the free exercise and enjoyment of a person’s free will. The decision to express consent is as much of an exercise of autonomy as the decision to not express consent. Consent may not be induced by duress, deception, coercion, or intimidation. Consent can not be “given” because consent is not a relinquishment of one’s free will to another person. Consent can only be expressed or freely exercised and enjoyed. When a person decides to exercise their autonomy to express consent, free will is always retained by the person exercising consent, which is why that person has the right to revoke consent at any time. 3) Revocation of Consent Understanding revocation of consent is one way that a woman could separate the men from the boys. Under my philosophy, any person has the right to revoke consent at any time. The exercise of revoking consent is an exercise of free will. The right of revocation of consent is the right of a person to continue to exercise their free will that is always retained by the person expressing consent.

Sincerely,

" "

Let’s pretend that you, as the reader, are an American man named Jacob. You have a wife and three children. All of the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor of your house, and you routinely check the fire detectors every six months. As a family, you have an emergency plan for if there is ever a fire in your house. If a fire occurs, you have promised to be responsible for making sure that you and your three children are able to exit the house safely. Since you take on this responsibility of the children’s safety, you make the false presumption that your wife can escape a fire safely by herself. One frightful night while your family was asleep, one of your kid’s toys was left too close to the radiator in the living room, which caused a fire. After the ignition of the fire, it took 15 minutes for the fire detectors to finally activate. You wake up, and you can see that your wife is awake. You tell your wife to leave the house, and she responds by saying, “Okay.” You successfully move the three children, the pet parakeet, and yourself out of the house safely. You expect that your wife made it out of the house, but she didn’t. When you realize that your wife is still inside the house, the fire has already engulfed the property. An hour later, the fire chief comes up to you and tells you that your wife is dead. The fire chief stated that your wife’s body was charred, and she had more jewelry around her than an Egyptian mummy. At this point, a tsunami of grief pierces your soul. You immediately remember the day, years ago when you promised your father-in-law that you’d keep his daughter safe when you had asked for his blessing to marry her. Your mind is instantly thrown into a miasma of guilt for her accidental death. Even though you knew it was an accident, you tell one of the first responders that you felt responsible for your wife’s death because as a man of chivalry, you felt responsible for the well-being of every member of your family. Two weeks later, the police arrest you for the murder of your wife as well as for the crime of arson.

At trial, a D grade pathologist for the prosecution testified that you strangled your wife to death and then set the house on fire in an attempt to conceal and destroy the body. A fire investigator concluded that there was foul play because the fire had multiple areas of origin around the living room. As the trial progressed, the statements that you made to the first responder were admitted into evidence due to the excited utterance exception to the hearsay rule pursuant to Rule 803(2) of the Maine Rules of Evidence. The first responder testified that you had confessed to murdering your wife, and the Law Court believed it on appeal. Your public defender failed to object to the issues that should have dismissed the charges all together because your public defender was too busy unsuccessfully objecting to the admission of photographic evidence of your wife’s charred body. Your public defender failed to object to the qualifications of the prosecution’s D grade pathologist, failed to object to the alleged confession, and failed to object to the fire investigation report. You are sentenced to prison for 30 years. The public defender that represented you eventually died of pancreatic cancer, years later without ever fettering out the truth. Let’s say that you are still incarcerated to this day because public defenders are not required to understand pathology nor fire investigation procedures. When a person is called a criminal monster for eons, it becomes a tragic self-fulfilling prophecy. Now, how can readers prevent this from happening? This book exists because the author hopes that public defender ignorance of fire investigation pathology will be reduced to the furthest extent possible. [Freeze Time]

Let’s freeze time. Let us rewind the scenes. Let’s rewind back to the fire at the point when you tell your wife to leave the house, and she says, “Okay.” After that, you leave the bedroom to find the kids, but what is your wife doing instead of exiting the house? Why wasn’t your wife able to exit the house when you were able to move everyone else out safely? After you left your bedroom, your wife thought that she had time to save all of her jewelry and heirlooms of antiquity! The first floor was an inferno. The second floor was filling with toxic smoke, yet your wife was too concerned with saving her jewelry to realize that she only had seconds to exit the house safely. Your wife didn’t even make it out of the bedroom before she collapsed from smoke inhalation, had a laryngeal spasm, and then died from the fire. This was not a murder. This was an accidental death due to fickle vanity!

[Freeze Time]

Let’s freeze time again. Let’s rewind back to when you were making an emergency exit plan with your family in the event of a house fire. During the emergency exit plan discussion, you begged your wife to promise to abandon all of her worldly possessions if there was ever a house fire. Now, the wife did not like this idea because she was secretly consumed by fickle vanity, even though she made a wedding vow to abstain from fickle vanity. With all of your vast wisdom and knowledge, you come up with a way to compromise with your wonderful wife. You first suggest that your wife leave her jewelry in a safety deposit box at the local bank. The wife responded by saying that she doesn’t trust banks. Rather than becoming frustrated, you bring your wife to a large store, and you buy her a $200 fire safe with a receipt and an iron-clad express lifetime warranty. The wife loves her new-used fire safe. The wife leaves her photo albums and her jewelry in the fire safe, so she won’t have to worry about them in case of a house fire. [Freeze Time]

Now, let’s fast-forward to when the fire chief walks up to you in another scenario outcome where your wife safely leaves the house fire because she had left her jewelry behind in a fire safe.

Instead of being told that your wife is dead, the fire chief approaches you and says that he has recovered the fire safe in one piece. The author asks the reader the following: Isn’t buying a fire safe much better than being accused of murdering your beloved wife?

Point #1: Be attentive to the fickle vanity because it could ruin your life really quickly.

Point #2: The public should encourage pathologists to become as educated as possible about fire-related deaths. When pathologists have misinformation or a lack of information about fire-related deaths, this is where wrongful convictions may occur to people who are given lengthy sentences. Point #3: The author has no reason to question the validity of any pathologist who actively did his/her homework in medical school and who is intrinsically motivated to continue to do exemplary work performance. However, nowadays, do pathologists take the effort to provide truthful expert testimony?

TL;DR: Awkward genius kid approached me on the beach one night while I was drunk and I gave him my email. He's been writing me emails for 2 months now without a response from me. He has strange lawyer code throughout some of his e-mails. He approached me one day in walmart and handed me an envelope with a formal request to dinner and a really socially awkward disclaimer about who he was and just how incredibly innocent he was. At the top of the page, it said Title 42 USC 2000aa(c). What does this mean? Am I being followed?

A NEW ALLIANCE

.

Lexi told me that after I left the pit, she stayed behind to finish her joint. She blew the rest of the candles out and laid back to look at the moon, the next thing she knew she was on the tower. She first thought she was just having a ‘weird, marijuana induced dream” of some sort – until her arms started to hurt.

.

“That’s when I started to panic” she said. “It seemed like I was there forever, just stuck there. Like we were waiting on something.” I looked at her odd when she said “we”. She continued, “I can’t explain it. I looked all around and didn’t see anyone, but it felt like someone was there… and we were waiting. I don’t ever remember feeling pain in a dream before, but my arms were killing me. I knew something was wrong.”

.

“When you showed up on the bench, well, it hit me what you’d said before. I remember what you told me about Kelly… Then, Kelly was there – - with that girl.” Lexi paused for a second, visibly shaken. “I freaked out; I could see what’d happened to Kelly and I knew that was what was gonna happen to me.”

.

“Anyway, when you stabbed yourself I was back in the pit. The stars and moon were gone and I could tell the sun was about to come up. My arms were throbbing, I knew it was real – I never had the feeling like it was only a bad dream…” She sat there just staring at the ground. After a moment she looked back up at me and said “so, tell me everything.”

.

I started at the beginning and left nothing out. I told her about both pictures, how I met her sister and the worries I had about the both of them. I told her about the day with Kelly and all the details of that night with her on the tower. It was hard to get thru, but it felt like a thousand pounds had lifted off my back when I’d finished.

.

We sat in silence for several minutes, neither knowing what to say next. Finally Lexi spoke, “It never ceases to amaze how much trouble guys can get into when they start thinking with their cock…” Looking at each other we both burst out laughing. It felt like it was the first time I’d laughed in a hundred years. Our laughter faded into an uncomfortable silence. Lexi got up from the floor, moved to the window and stared out at the afternoon sun.

.

“It’s going to be dark in a few hours,” she paused. “I’m thinking your mom won’t let me stay the night, huh?” I couldn’t see her face from where I was, but I didn’t have to. “No, probably not,” I replied. Not taking her gaze away from the window she continued, “I’m scared. I think… I think I’m going to die tonight…”

.

I sat there for a second before saying anything, “No, no you’re not. I’m not going to let that happen. I promise.” Another promise - I thought of Kelly. “Listen, go to my room. I’ll tell my mom you left. Shut the door, nobody will check. You have to be really quiet though it’s a small house, if you think someone’s coming, hide in the closet. Let’s get thru tonight and we’ll figure all this out… somehow.” Lexi turned to face me with a huge smile of relief on her face.

.

“Hurry,” I said “before she comes back. It’s the last door on the left.” She disappeared into the hall before I could say anything else, but then came rushing back into the room. Reaching down she gave me a hug and kissed me on the cheek before darting back out again. Funny, the only thought that came to my mind at the moment was wondering how she got the smoke smell out of her hair.

………

Mom was gone longer than I expected. When she got home she announced it looked like the police were finally going to get involved in the search for Kelly. She said they didn’t seem thrilled to be there and they thought Kelly would turn up soon, but Ms. Elliott didn’t share their optimism. Ms. Elliott told my mom they were only there out of a “favor” for one of their captains, a “friend” of Ms. Elliott’s, but that they promised tod ask around with some of their street contacts in Little Rock to see if they’d heard anything. Mom said she left when they started to search through Kelly’s room.

.

Looking down the hall towards our bathroom, mom asked “I see your friend left, huh?” “Yeah, mom. Lexi’s gone.” She continued, “She certainly seems nice, very respectful. I like her. I wish the rest of your friends were as respectful.” I tried not to laugh out loud “Yeah mom, she’s… something else alright.”

.

Mom looked at me disapprovingly, “You know, I know that look. Just because someone’s nice or polite doesn’t make them weird or anything. You better not be mean to her because you think she’s different. She’s obviously a sweet girl and you could do a lot worse for yourself.” Walking away she continued, “I bet she’s got great parents. You can always tell a kid with great parents.”

.

Wow, this was literally one of those jaw dropping moments in life. The girl that, less than twenty-four hours earlier, while topless had me pinned to the ground inside a candle lit circle. The girl that was currently hiding in my bedroom, MY mom was calling that girl “sweet”. Totally surreal.

.

“How about I just throw a pizza in the oven for you and your brother for dinner? I’m not up for cooking much tonight, I think I’m going to turn in early. I’m not even going to wait up for your dad.” “That’s fine Mom” I said, “but can you put two in? Those things are small and I’m pretty hungry.”

.

After starting the pizzas she came back in the living room. “I guess I’d better get your sheets changed before going to bed, huh?” she said. My sheets! I’d forgotten about the blood trail I’d left the night before. As she headed down the hall I shouted, “You don’t have to worry about my sheets Mom! I can take care of it later; you go on and get some rest!” I could hear her getting the sheets from the hall pantry. “Don’t be silly David, you can barely stand.”

.

I cringed when I heard my bedroom door open. Nothing. No shouts of surprise or shock, just the normal sounds of movement coming from down the hall. Finally, my mom passed by with my old sheets on her way towards the wash room. “I should probably just throw these out. I doubt I’ll be able to get the blood stains out, but I guess I can try. Your mattress looks terrible too.” I let out a sigh of relief as the disappeared around the corner.

.

After she took the pizzas out of the oven Mom brought the crutches I got from the hospital over to the couch where I was laying. “Are you going to need any help or do you think you can manage if I go to bed?” She couldn’t go fast enough for me. “No Mom, I’m good, thanks.” She continued, “Ok then, your dad’s supposed to be home around midnight, so unless you want to talk about the day’s events I’d suggest you be in bed before then.” And with that, Mom called it an end to a very long couple days for her.

.

The smell of pizza finally brought my brother out of his room and into the kitchen. Grabbing the entire pepperoni pizza, he announced that this one was his and quickly vanished back into his room. Jerk. Pulling myself up onto the crutches I made my way to the kitchen. Canadian bacon, great. I piled the remaining pizza onto the biggest plate I could find, left one of the crutches leaning against the counter and began to hobble as best I could towards my room.

.

The pain medication I’d gotten at the hospital had pretty much worn off at this point and my leg was starting to throb pretty bad. The pizza almost slid off the plate a couple times before I finally made it to my bedroom door. Braced on the one crutch I was using, I used my free hand to open the door. Lexi was on my bed reading with the nightstand light on. She was on her stomach resting on her elbows with her bare feet crossed in the air. She looked up from the book at me and whispered, “What, no beer?”

.

Smiling, she silently moved toward the door, took the pizza and motioned for me to sit at my desk. By the time I’d done so I looked up and she was gone. I could hear the refrigerator door open from the kitchen - Jesus she was crazy! She was back in the room in a matter of seconds with a couple Dr. Peppers, shutting the door behind her. I started to speak when she shushed me with her index finger. She walked over and turned the TV on – Fantasy Island was just starting. The familiar “Boss, de plane! De plane!” filled the room as she whispered “Now you can talk dumb ass! Holy hell, you can hear everything in this house. How the fuck did you ever sneak out of here, you part Ninja or something?!”

.

It was kind of good to hear Lexi sounding like her old self again. If anything, her vulgar dialogue exuded a certain level of confidence and control. Something I desperately needed at the moment. Truthfully, a big part of me was hoping to harness some of her evil genius to help find a way out of this situation.

.

Grabbing a piece of pizza she bit down and began to talk and chew at the same time, “I found your little library-collection-of-the-occult while hiding from your mom in the closet. Dude, didn’t you bother to read any of this shit before dialing 555-satan?! I mean, half this shit is a 'how-to' manual, while the other half tells you not to be a dumb ass and do it!” Before I could answer she said, “You don’t have to answer that, it’s a rhetorical question. I know what the problem was; you were blinded by all these tits. I mean, really? Just look at her, does anyone really even have tits like that?! JESUS!” Lexi was pointing to an illustration of a particularly buxom succubus with horns, black wings and tail. Looking at the picture, then down at her own chest she said laughed, “And you thought I was a demon?! Man, I bet you thought you got screwed!”

.

“Now I see why you didn’t answer my question last night.” At that moment I honestly didn’t remember what she was talking about. “You know, don’t play dumb - my tits. You never told me what you thought of ‘em.” Now sitting cross-legged on the bed facing me she was wearing that devilish grin again. Stammering, I didn’t know exactly how to respond. Breaking into a quiet laugh again she said, “Relax, I’m just yankin’ your chain again. Dammit, that never gets old.” Taking another bite of pizza and turning back to her book she continued, “Anyway, the way I figure it, mine are the only real life tits you’ve ever seen. You don’t have much of a point of reference, so as far as you’re concerned I’ve got the best damn tits in the world!” How could anyone argue what that logic?

.

Reaching across the bed Lexi grabbed the nearest book and tossed it my way. “Here, it’s research time. One would think somewhere in one of these books there’d be some instructions on how to get us out of this mess.”

My Wife Put Herself In The Fridge In Bags Dreams

I dreamt I was sitting my computer doing something. I knew that my wife, "Sue" was concerned about the snow outside, but I didn’t really feel like getting up and doing anything about it, so I suggested she just go out there and sprinkle a little salt in a pathway from our door to the street. She was super annoyed by this and said she was just going to go shovel all the snow. I was like, “You don’t need to do that! There’s not even that much snow anyway!” But she went outside anyway.

Then I was in the house alone, and it seemed bigger (though it wasn’t) and much, much scarier. Everything became dim and surreal. I must have gotten into another room at some point, because soon I was walking back into the living room looking for Sue. I was hoping my worst fears weren’t true, but I knew that because of our fight over the snow Sue had put herself in the refrigerator in bags. Like…bags of her flesh. Doing this was a defiant act on her part, but it wasn’t going to kill her, meaning she could come out again. I could see the bags in my mind, but when I went to the fridge there wasn’t anything in it but food. I started calling her name. I saw her at the computer, and I was calling out to her, but she ignored me.

In real life I woke up calling out for her. She was busy having a dream that I was making fun of her for being bad at some Pokémon-based game she was playing with her brother-in-law. I guess she was getting confused and thought my real-life voice was in her dream, yelling at her, so she sounded annoyed when she responded to me. Eventually though she realized I’d had a nightmare, and so she tried to make me feel better.

Questions about storage capacities. breakingpoint

Since the wiki articles on this topic are either outdated or non-existant and I couldn't find anything on the forums, I post my questions here. Also, finding out by trial and error could result in a waste of precious building materials.

Some friends and me want to build containers in our safehouse. The only limiting factor for us so far has been having the necessary reinforced steel. What is the total storage capacity of the haven gun cabinet? Currently we are sitting on 3 reinforced steel. With that amount we could either set up three haven chests or one gun cabinet. Can I only store guns in the gun cabinet? If so, can I store more guns in a gun cabinet than in 3 haven chests? The total container limit per player hasn't been an issue so far since it's 3-4 of us working together. Same question for the haven refrigerator. Is it worth building one?

And finally, is there some documentation about the mod other than the utterly outdated and useless wiki? Yes, it is garbage. For example, try to find up-to-date info about the different backpacks or weapon attachments.

What's my best next move in my exchange with my megacorp ex-landlord? AskSF

In short:

I moved out of my apartment in a large new complex. I then received my security deposit refund in the mail. The refund was significantly less than I hoped to receive. While I was not pleased with the expensive cleaning fee, I let it slide as this property corporation apparently charges this cleaning fee to all their renters. I was surprised to see a ~$900 deduction to replace a damaged refrigerator. At the time I vacated the apartment, the refrigerator was clearly in good working order. While I do not have photograph or video evidence to support my assertion, I do have one very important piece of leverage.

The document I received from my initial inspection indicated no damages and that my apartment simply needed to be cleaned. According to California Civil Code Section 1950.5 letter (f), this document is intended to point out major damages in order to give me an opportunity to fix them before receiving a deduction from my security deposit. Since I was afforded no such opportunity, I sent this corporation a written letter (which they explicitly requested for concerns and questions) by certified mail (which I have documentation of their receipt) to formally request compensation for my deduction. After over a month, I've received no response from the corporation by any means.

Below, you will find my exact letter to the corporation and California Civil Code Section 1950.5 letter (f) for your convenient reference. What are my best next steps? Thank you!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-- my name redacted -- -- my address redacted -- San Francisco, CA 94107
August 14, 2014
To --corporation name redacted--:
I contact you to officially contest the charges I received on my itemized return of my security deposit pertaining to the allegedly damaged refrigerator.
Attached you will find a copy of my receipt of my initial inspection. Notice that the only action item listed on the receipt is that the apartment was to be cleaned. Nowhere on the sheet does it mention any damages to the refrigerator because the refrigerator was clearly in good working order both at the time of the inspection and at the time of move out.
According to California Civil Code Section 1950.5 letter (f) (pertaining to the initial inspection), I was to be notified of any major damages to be given an opportunity to fix such damages. Since I received no such notification, I assert that my request for compensation is justified. You will aso find California Civil Code Section 1950.5 letter (f) attached for your convenient reference.
Explicitly, I request compensation of $906.91 for the item on the security deposit return pertaining to the refrigerator. You will also find attached a copy of the return statement with the relevant item highlighted.
Please reach out with your response soon.
Thank you,
-- my name redacted --
California Civil Code Section 1950.5, letter (f)
(f) (1) Within a reasonable time after notification of either party's intention to terminate the tenancy, or before the end of the lease term, the landlord shall notify the tenant in writing of his or her option to request an initial inspection and of his or her right to be present at the inspection. The requirements of this subdivision do not apply when the tenancy is terminated pursuant to subdivision (2), (3), or (4) of Section 1161 of the Code of Civil Procedure. At a reasonable time, but no earlier than two weeks before the termination or the end of lease date, the landlord, or an agent of the landlord, shall, upon the request of the tenant, make an initial inspection of the premises prior to any final inspection the landlord makes after the tenant has vacated the premises. The purpose of the initial inspection shall be to allow the tenant an opportunity to remedy identified deficiencies, in a manner consistent with the rights and obligations of the parties under the rental agreement, in order to avoid deductions from the security. If a tenant chooses not to request an initial inspection, the duties of the landlord under this subdivision are discharged. If an inspection is requested, the parties shall attempt to schedule the inspection at a mutually acceptable date and time. The landlord shall give at least 48 hours' prior written notice of the date and time of the inspection if either a mutual time is agreed upon, or if a mutually agreed time cannot be scheduled but the tenant still wishes an inspection. The tenant and landlord may agree to forgo the 48-hour prior written notice by both signing a written waiver. The landlord shall proceed with the inspection whether the tenant is present or not, unless the tenant previously withdrew his or her request for the inspection. Written notice by the landlord shall contain, in substantially the same form, the following:
"State law permits former tenants to reclaim abandoned personal property left at the former address of the tenant, subject to certain conditions. You may or may not be able to reclaim property without incurring additional costs, depending on the cost of storing the property and the length of time before it is reclaimed. In general, these costs will be lower the sooner you contact your former landlord after being notified that property belonging to you was left behind after you moved out."
(2) Based on the inspection, the landlord shall give the tenant an itemized statement specifying repairs or cleanings that are proposed to be the basis of any deductions from the security the landlord intends to make pursuant to paragraphs (1) to (4), inclusive, of subdivision (b). This statement shall also include the texts of paragraphs (1) to (4), inclusive, of subdivision (b). The statement shall be given to the tenant, if the tenant is present for the inspection, or shall be left inside the premises. (3) The tenant shall have the opportunity during the period following the initial inspection until termination of the tenancy to remedy identified deficiencies, in a manner consistent with the rights and obligations of the parties under the rental agreement, in order to avoid deductions from the security. (4) Nothing in this subdivision shall prevent a landlord from using the security for deductions itemized in the statement provided for in paragraph (2) that were not cured by the tenant so long as the deductions are for damages authorized by this section. (5) Nothing in this subdivision shall prevent a landlord from using the security for any purpose specified in paragraphs (1) to (4), inclusive, of subdivision (b) that occurs between completion of the initial inspection and termination of the tenancy or was not identified during the initial inspection due to the presence of a tenant's possessions.
I'm addicted to spending money! And other random thoughts... offmychest
Problem is I don't have much.
"...I'm a big fan of money. I like it, I use it, I have a little. I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator. I'd like to put more in that jar..."
I'm working on that part, I'm just feeling very impatient. I'm 29 and have "wasted" a lot of time taking any job I could find. I am now working on a career move, but I want it to happen NOW! I'm sick of not being able to take my family on vacation, or not being able to fuel my, admittedly stupid, addiction/hobby of tinkering with the latest and greatest electronics. I'm ready to live a more comfortable life. To not live paycheck to paycheck! I really enjoy the field I have started learning, so much so that I think about it when I am at my current job, but it makes me impatient and angry that I am not utilizing my talent and working in my field yet! I'm just ready, damn it!!
The Year of the Poltergeist (pt. 2) Ghosts
The Year of the Poltergeist (pt. 1)
After the TV was out of the house strange things started to happen, footsteps in unoccupied rooms, things being knocked off of the walls, strange behavior in guests and pets. I'm not one to be afraid of the dark, but I installed nightlights in every hallway. One room in particular seemed to have the most activity, a room that could be considered an attic of sorts, it had a tiny door that opened up into a full size room, it was freshly painted and carpeted, well lit but always had a uneasy feeling overall, even passing the door in the hallway at night was enough to make someone uncomfortable.
Things started to happen in my life that seemed out of my control yet they directly affected me in negative ways, guests in the house would act differently after visiting, my social life began to fall apart out of the blue, I found myself becoming depressed, my job performance was suffering, I wasn't sleeping, I gained weight and started drinking heavily... It was getting ugly fast.
At the height of all the chaos in my life and in my home a friend of mine in another town invited me to visit and get out my space for a while, when I pulled into their driveway I noticed a colonial brick home next door with a sign on the lawn; "Apartment For Rent". The minute I saw that sign I knew it was my sign, I didn't know how, when or why, but I knew I had to move.
The next morning I called the number on the sign and spoke with my future landlord, the apartment was occupied and needed to be cleaned very badly but if I was willing to wait the price was well below my rent budget, everything was included and the owner was willing to wave the security deposit if I didn't mind being patient while the apartment was being prepared. I popped out to take a quick scan of the place, it was indeed in need of a lot of cleaning and tenant removal, but I agreed to the deal offered and signed a year lease on the spot, then headed home to pack.
When I finally dropped into my bed that night I was beyond tired, I had spent the entire day lovingly packing my belongings, feeling better about my life in general, confident a new new-start being exactly what was needed. I was just starting to doze off when I heard something go toppling over and break, I figured my cat had knocked something off the kitchen counter so I went down to inspect, I found nothing out of the ordinary and out of exhaustion I just went to bed without thinking much of it.
The next night I had a friend over, eating oreos and discussing the move when the entire house shook and a loud crash came from the floor below us, it was coming from the kitchen, it sounded like the fridge being knocked over. Being young and a drinker I had a couple dozen various brands of empty liquor bottles arranged on top of my fridge, that night I distinctly heard them crash and break, my ears painted a picture of my fridge being thrown forward onto it's doors and my bottles hitting the ground hard, some bouncing across the floor before smashing, some becoming dust instantly. For a moment I had feared that the refrigerator had gone through the floor into the unoccupied apartment below mine. my friend and I looked at each other in horror before jumping up and racing down the curving staircase to the the kitchen, we expected glass, carnage, possibly even gore, but what we saw was even more shocking than gore more terrifying than that, what we saw was nothing, absolutely nothing. After a quick perimeter check for broken windows/Neighbor-Methlabs/Vandals turning up nothing we returned to our chairs. My friend said "I don't think it wants you to move."
It was that night that I realized this thing wasn't going to let me leave quietly...
Can the growing season for brussel sprouts be extended in zone 6B with a small hoop house gardening
I planted my first set of brussel sprouts late. I believe they will reach maturity in December sometime if I am lucky.
The question - can a small hoop house extend their growing season? Meaning if it is a little warmer for them, will be continue to grow? Or at that late in the season (amount of sunlight, air temperature) am I basically building a refrigerator for plants that won't mature?
First sourdough, some advice would be greatly appreciated Breadit
I've never made sourdough before and decided to try Peter Reinhart's basic sourdough recipe. I was super excited and started my own seed culture, barm, everything as described in his book. I got to step 7 (recipe below) and got violently sick (food poisoning). The dough had not risen enough, but it was 2:30am and in my condition I was in no shape to wait any longer for it to rise so I can shape and put it in proofing baskets. So at this point I just put it back in the fridge. I made three doughs that would make a total of six breads and I would really hate to lose them. Is there any chance I can save them? If I take the dough out of the fridge and let it sit for another 4 hours or so, then shape and proof, will that work? Thank you so much! Here is the recipe I used:
Ingredients
Firm starter
⅔ cup (4 ounces) barm 1 cup (4½ ounces) unbleached high-gluten or bread flour (see Note) ⅛ to ¼ cup (1 to 2 ounces) water
Final dough
4½ cups (20¼ ounces) unbleached high-gluten or bread flour 2 tsp. (½ ounce) salt 1½ to 1¾ cups (12 to 14 ounces) lukewarm water (90 to 100 degrees) ~ Semolina flour or cornmeal for dusting
Steps
  1. Remove the barm from the refrigerator and measure it out 1 hour before making the firm starter to take off the chill. To do this, dip a ⅔-cup measuring cup into a bowl of water, then scoop it into the barm to fill (the wet cup will allow the barm to slide out easily). Transfer it to a small bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and allow it to warm up for 1 hour.
  2. Add the flour to the bowl and mix together the barm and the flour, adding only enough additional water so that you can knead this into a small ball. You do not need to work this very long, just until all the flour is hydrated and the barm is evenly distributed. Lightly oil a small bowl or mist the inside of a plastic bag with spray oil, and place the starter in the bowl or bag, turning to coat it with oil. Cover the bowl or seal the bag.
    1. Ferment at room temperature for approximately 4 hours, or until the starter has at least doubled in size. If it takes more time than 4 hours, give it additional time, checking every hour or so. Then put it in the refrigerator overnight.
    2. Remove the starter from the refrigerator 1 hour before making the dough. Cut it into about 10 small pieces with a pastry scraper or serrated knife. Mist with spray oil, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let sit for 1 hour to take off the chill.
    3. To make the dough, stir together the flour and salt in a 4-quart mixing bowl (or in the bowl of an electric mixer). Add the starter pieces and enough water to bring everything together into a ball as you stir with a large metal spoon (or mix on low speed with the paddle attachment).
    4. Sprinkle the counter with flour, transfer the dough to the counter, and knead by hand for 12 to 15 minutes (or mix with the dough hook for 4 minutes on medium-low speed, allow the dough to rest for 5 to 10 minutes, and then mix for 4 minutes). Adjust the water or flour as needed. The dough should be firm but tacky. Lightly oil a large bowl and transfer the dough to the bowl, rolling it around to coat it with oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
    5. Ferment at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours, or until the dough has nearly doubled in size.
    6. Gently remove the dough from the bowl and divide it into 2 equal pieces (about 22 ounces each), or divide it into smaller pieces if you are making rolls. Gently shape the dough into round or oblong shapes.
    7. Proof the dough on parchment-lined sheet pans that have been dusted with semolina flour or cornmeal. Mist the exposed part of the dough with spray oil and loosely cover the dough with a towel or plastic wrap. Proof the loaves for 2 to 3 hours.
    8. Prepare the oven for hearth baking by placing a large cast-iron pan or heavy-duty baking pan on the top rack. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
    11.Ten minutes before baking, remove the towel or plastic wrap from the loaves. Generously dust a baking peel or the back of a sheet pan with semolina flour or cornmeal, and gently transfer the dough to the peel or pan. (If dough was proofed in a sheet pan, it can be baked directly in that pan.) Score the dough and slide it onto a baking stone (or leave it in the sheet pan) and place it in the oven. 12. Pour 1 cup hot water into the cast-iron or heavy-duty baking pan on the top oven rack and close the oven door. After 30 seconds, spray the oven walls with water and close the door. Repeat twice more at 30-second intervals. 13. After the final spray, lower the oven setting to 450 degrees and bake for 10 minutes. Rotate the loaves 180 degrees for even baking and continue baking for another 10 to 20 minutes, or until the loaves are done. They should register 205 degrees in the center, be a rich golden brown all over, and sound hollow when thumped on the bottom.
    14.Transfer the finished loaves to a rack and cool for at least 45 minutes before slicing or serving.
Street Fighter EX 2 Music Help Fighters
In EX1 and EX3, the characters had specific themes, but in EX 2, it was all random. Trying to figure which music best fits the characters.
Flash Train (Train Station) - Hayate in the arcade version
Three Tree (Waterside Forest) - Ryu. Music has some Japanese characteristics.
Fake World (Museum) - ??? No idea who this could fit as there's dinosaurs in the background.
Pearl In The Sky (Kyoto) - Hokuto / Nanase
White Field (Snow Mountain) - Ken Masters. Sounds similar to his EX1 theme, Guardian Of Light
Lost Sea (Pirate Ship) - Skullomania. Sounds like a slowed down remix of Amusementive Crime.
Phantom Bomb (Airport) - Guile. Theme sounds like an edgier version of Strange Sunset.
Crowded Town (Hong Kong) - Chun-Li obviously.
Green Shower (Jungle) - Blanka obviously.
Crash Power Plant (Power Plant) - This suits Zangief.
Frozen Mist (Refrigerator) - D. Dark. So cold, it would hurt to breath.
Mahatma Temple With Hymn (Church) - Vega. He usually has boss-like music.
Digital Ignition (Space Shuttle) - Area
The Infinite Earth (Open Field with Hitachi Tree) - ???
Irene (New York) - Vulcano Rosso. Music sounds Italian.
Before Moon (Barren Wasteland with Giant Sunset) - Sagat
Amusementive Crime 2 (Whacky Circus Dimension) - Shadowgeist
Passage Of Lotus (Giant Dojo with Statue Of Buddha) - Kairi
More Stronger (Garuda's Fortress) - Garuda
The Battle Of The Flame (Thailand) - Bison, but it sounds like it be Dhalsim's. Became Shadowgeist's theme in EX 3 for some WTF reason.
That leaves Sharon, Cracker Jack, Pullum Purna, Darun Mister, and Dhalsim unaccounted for and two stages I gave no idea who it would "belong" to.
[Wisconsin]Landlord wont keep any promises after we have moved in, also shut our power off, is there anything we can do? legaladvice
My girlfriend and I recently moved into a house around the beginning of the month with our 5 month old son. While going over the lease we were told we would be responsible for electric and water bills. We ended up forgetting to switch the electric in our name, so about 2 weeks after we moved in, our landlord called and had our power shut off for the weekend with no advance warning of it being shut off from her or the power company.
We called and had the power switched in our name, and had to wait until the following monday to restore the power.
After the power was back on we called again to ask why we weren't given a notice of the power being shut off, the support person said that it may have been illegal for her to do this, and that our land lord should of had it switched over in our name when she made the call to shut it off.
I've read that in some cases its the tenants responsibility to switch and in some situations its the land lords. Our land lord wont give us a copy of our lease even though we've asked a few times now so I have no clue whos responsibility it is.
She has also promised to fix a lot of things that are wrong with the house, like the cracked front window, and broken locks on some of the windows. We called her everyday until she sent some random guy over to look at the window, he basically just looked at the window with out taking measurements and left. So we are guess that she sent the guy over to shut us up.
She also told us she would get a stove and refrigerator put in, but we ended up buying our own after many excuses from her as to why she hasn't got any yet. We also found out by looking up her court records that she has taken every tenet that has lived at this address to small claims court, so we are very concerned that she will try to takes us to court at some point. So we are also wondering what we could do to help us if she decides to also drag us into court.
We are also trying to figure out if there is a way for us to legally break the lease based on the information I've provided. This is our first time renting a house and are at a loss as to what we can do at this point.
Our first kiss (Sep 15, 2014) Diary
Monday, September 15, 2014
“Truth or dare,” Emily asked with a mouth full of onion ring.
I considered my choices carefully. The last dare had not gone as expected. She had dared me to flirt with the Sonic girl that brought our food out. My plan had been to give a generous tip as a catalyst to some flirtatious banter. So I handed thirty dollars to the young girl as a tip for our fifteen dollar meal. Instead the girl broke down in tears and literally reached through the van window to hug me. It turned out she was a single, teenage mother living with her parents and trying to work while caring for her daughter and attending high school. The amount of my tip was the amount she was short for her daughter’s monthly preschool tuition, which was due in the morning. The entire exchange left both Emily and me speechless.
“Truth,” I answered.
Emily thought a moment. “If you could marry anyone, who would it be?” It took a moment for my brain to decipher her words. While her cerebral palsy was not severe, Emily did have a speech impediment that made her difficult to understand if you were not focused.
“Anyone? Does it have to be a real person or can it be a fictional character?”
“Anyone I guess.”
“Velma from Scooby Doo. The original series, not the new ones.”
“Really? Velma?” Emily rolled her eyes. “I figured you’d go for Daphne.”
“I like smart girls. Besides, I think Velma is a lot hotter.”
This made Emily choke on her peanut butter milkshake.
“Your turn,” I announced. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth,” she answered quickly.
My last dare had been to get out of the van, strike a silly pose, and take a selfie. Unfortunately for her, Sonic was packed, and she had had a big audience.
“Describe your Prince Charming.”
The teenage splotches of acne on her cheeks reddened more, and she gave an embarrassed look. At eighteen she alternated between acting an adult and a teenage girl. She and her parents had been my neighbor for over a decade, though the two of us had developed a friendship over the last two. Emily was smart and fun to be with, once she warmed up to you. We shared common interests in books and sometimes movies as well as a love of the outdoors.
“Well… He would have to be smart. And handsome. I guess I don’t care about how much money he has as long as he lives within his means. And I guess he has to be fun to be with. Oh yeah. And romantic.”
“That’s pretty vague,” I observed.
We sat in silence for a while as we finished our meals. Typically I saw Emily on Tuesdays and Thursdays when we carpooled to campus. After my divorce three years earlier I decided to pursue some of my goals in life; the first was to work on my PhD in Computer Science. My sole class this semester was on Tuesdays and Thursdays at eleven. Emily had classes from eight until eleven. So she rode with me in the mornings. While she was in class I studied or worked on actual work for my employer until class. At 12:30, when my class was over, I took Emily home before going into the office.
However, she had surprised me with a text message tonight letting me know her parents were working late and that she was dying for onion rings and a peanut butter milkshake. It was her not so subtle way of asking if I would drive her to Sonic or bring her food. Being the sucker I am, I put the grilled chicken I had just cooked in the refrigerator and met her outside.
“Do you want anything else,” I asked as she placed the container that had held a foot long chili dog and an order of onion rings in the bag. For someone so small, she could eat a lot. Emily was barely five feet tall and probably weighed a hundred pounds. I was twice her weight and had not been able to finish my cheeseburger and tots.
“I’m full,” she replied. Pulling her iPhone out, she read the latest text message. “Mom and dad are home.” Emily also hated being home alone.
The drive home took about five minutes. It was just after seven and already dark outside. While she lived next door, I walked her across the yard to her porch.
Emily stopped on the first step. “Truth or dare?”
I blinked in surprise. “Dare,” I replied without really thinking.
Her face grew crimson. “I dare you to kiss me.”
My breath caught. “Kiss you?”
She only nodded.
“You’re serious?”
A hurt look came across her face. “I was just joking.” Her voice sounded hurt.
Without thinking I stepped forward and caught her hand in mine. The cloth of her wrist brace felt rough compared to the soft skin of her slender fingers. She stopped her ascent and turned to face me. Her blue eyes peered nervously through her black rimmed glasses as they met mine. I took her other hand and turned her body to face me. As I leaned forward her eyes went wide and then squeezed shut.
Lightly I pressed my lips to hers. Emily was not breathing, and her body trembled as we stood there. Then I stepped back.
A grin split her face. Her fingers clutched my hands momentarily before freeing them. “Good night,” she said and went inside before I replied.
Sleep did not come easily that night as my thoughts were filled with Emily. At forty-three I was older than her parents and had a daughter older than she. Lindsey was a junior in college majoring in astrophysics. Already her professors were discussing graduate school with promises of assistantships.
Had I inadvertently sent Emily messages saying I was interested in her romantically? I thought back over the last two years and especially to the last few weeks. Nothing stood out. During her junior and senior years of high school I had helped her with math and science homework at the request of her parents. During the spring semester of her senior year she had done volunteer work with the hiking club I was in. Finally, starting in August, we had carpooled together.
Until a few weeks ago I had been in a relationship with a coworker. Linda worked in accounting, and we had started dating seven months earlier. In late August she moved to California to be closer to her children, and I had been truly sad to see her go. While she was much older than I at sixty-one, Linda had acted half her age. The two of us had gone on numerous backpacking trips including a three week trip along the Appalachian Trail. And then there had been the sex! Linda had been insatiable; I think I had had more sex in those seven months that the last seven years of my marriage.
So then, why had Emily asked me to kiss her? How did I feel about her? She definitely did not fit in the mold of women I dated. I preferred women older than me; I had never had a relationship with a younger woman in my life. Also I liked women with curves to them; Emily was not just slender, she was rail thin. Nor did she have a bosom. It was not that she was small chested. As far as I could tell, she was flat chested.
Yet we did enjoy being together. Despite the age difference, we had an endless supply of things to talk about. Books. Movies. The outdoors. School.
That night my dreams were haunted by Emily. In some she lay beneath me, pale and naked with her raven hair spilled about her head, as we made love. In others she laughed at my advances when I professed my desire for her. And sometimes I rebuked her advances and left her in tears.
My sleep that night was troubled, but it would only be the first of many nights to come.
TIFU by taking cock sauce to the face (SFW) tifu
This happened last night: Having traveled over 3000 miles across country, my wife and I decided to order some take out to be first meal in our new home because at this point we do not have any furniture or kitchenware that isn't trapped inside a cardboard sarcophagus . We had eaten pizza recently during our cross country trip, so Chinese was the obvious choice. After bringing home some food from a local restaurant I loaded up my plate with some potstickers, sesame chicken, and Szechuan beef. Suddenly I realized I needed some Sriracha to make this meal perfect.
I remembered that I had a new bottle squirreled away somewhere and saw that my mother-in-law (who was helping us unpack) had placed it in our pantry. I hurried to grab the bottle as I anticipated how delicious my meal was going to be. After unscrewing the cap I noticed some residue, which is not normal for a sealed bottle. I decided it was a good idea to investigate this issue instead of ignoring it and moving forward. I squeezed the bottle and heard the sound of air coming from somewhere. Thinking this was strange, I started to squeeze again (like an idiot) only to break the seal....
The sound of the "pop" when the (not-so) air tight seal failed was deafening. I tried to prepare as felt cock sauce spray all over my face. There was a one second delay as my brain tried to process what was going on before my face, eyes, and nostrils burst into garlicky flames. I realized in horror what I had done as panic started to take hold. The only way I can describe the pain is to quote Johnny Knoxville: "I feel like my eyes have gonorrhea!"
Sadly I had no milk to pour on my face because our refrigerator only had beer and soda in it so I settled for stripping my clothes and jumping into the shower to rinse this delicious lava off my face. I thought that it was only my eyes feeling the brunt of the cock sauce attack, but my runny nose caused me to snort up some of the chili sauce into my nostrils thus increasing my pain and discomfort.
As tears, snot, and Sriracha ran down my face, my wife (who is a nurse) gave me the best advice she could in order to mitigate the intense pain I felt and eventually I was able to function. I rinsed what was left of the Sriracha and my dignity down the drain, and at this point I was happy to have my Chinese food sans Sriracha.
Tl;dr: I received a Sriracha facial. It feels as bad as it sounds.
/u/flutterguy123's Guinea pig George VS My cat Gooba whowouldwin
Information on George is here
Gooba VS George in a fight to the death.
Gooba's feats:
1. His claws once scratched my bedroom door so they must be at least as sharp as Wolverine's claws.
2. He can climb trees and curtains so I'm pretty sure he has some kind of insect-like sticking ability.
3. One time he pooped in the hallway and I didn't get mad cause he's so cute so he has emotion manipulation.
4. If you touch his feet he will become bloodlusted and attack you.
5. He can meow loudly and wake me up so he must be at Dragonshouting level.
6. He can jump over mountains. Well, he could if he wanted to. He probably does. Yeah he does.
7. He has extremely high intelligence and probably can read minds.
8. He has friends who can help him like Behba and Daisy.
9. One time he jumped off of my refrigerator and was fine so he doesn't experience fall damage.
10. He likes to sunbathe so obviously he gains power from the sun like Superman so he is as strong as him too.
Here is a picture of Gooba for reference.
Landlord being shady, need advice... renting
This is going to be a little long, thanks for bearing with me, here goes:
First off, I live in California.
On the first of this month, we rented a condo from the owner. The nose of the stairs to the upstairs area were broken and made for unsafe passage. I asked him to fix this issue and to repaint the apartment. He had painted it yellow, a color which we did not agree to. We purchased the paint and his hired contractors to fix the stairs and repaint the living room and bedrooms. This was completed on the 6th of the month. We had paid a month's rent and a deposit equivalent to the rent for the unit on august 29th.
After this was completed, we started moving appliances and furniture into the home. On the 16th, I noticed a puddle of water in the kitchen, behind the refrigerator. Upon further inspection, I discovered a leak behind the wall that had soaked the drywall completely. I called the landlord and he sent an emergency plumber to cap the leak until someone could come fix it. To my surprise, (/s) there was mold. They recommended that no one sleeps there until the issue is taken care of. The pipe had previously been repaired with a galvanized fitting where copper should have been used. It had rusted overtime and it had sprung a leak. The contractors used by the landlord came by the Monday after and tore the mold out and treated it. It has now been a total of 13 days that my kitchen isn't fixed. They're coming on wednesday to repair the pipe and put new drywall up. For the first 6 days, and these 13 days, I want to deduct rent and send the check that will reflect these issues. The check will be the amount of the rent divided by 30, multiplied by the number of days the apartment has been partially habitable (19) with that amount subtracted from the rent amount. On top of this I still do not have my mail key, garage door openers, pool area key, or the community HOA rules.
For more clarity, here's section 32 of our lease agreement that we both signed:
Section 32: DAMAGE TO PREMISES: If, by no fault of Tenant, Premises are totally or partially damaged or destroyed by fire, earthquake, accident, or other casualty that render Premises totally or partially uninhabitable, either Landlord or Tenant may terminate this Agreement by giving the other written notice. Rent shall be abated as of the date Premises become totally or partially uninhabitable. The abated amount shall be the current monthly Rent prorated on a 30-day period. If the Agreement is not terminated, Landlord shall PROMPTLY repair the damage, and Rent shall be reduced based on the extent to which the damage interferes with the Tenant's reasonable use of Premises. If damage occurs as a result of an act of Tenant or Tenant's guests, only Landlord shall have the right of termination, and no reduction in Rent shall be made.
SF Bay Area growers, how are you overwintering? SavageGarden
I see that there are a lot of people from the bay Area on here and I wanted to reach out for some advice. I'm new to the CP scene and have read a lot about dormancy during the winter and how plants that are not allowed to go through a winter dormancy usually die prematurely. How do you Bay Area growers deal with this? Do you just leave your plants outside? Do you do the refrigerator trick?
I'm in Berkeley, so winter days are 55-70 F and nights are 45-60 F.
I made some mistakes and eventually slipped. Time to get back into monk mode and get busy living. pornfree
It turns out that even as I was so confident that I will never look porn again all it took was a lazy day and a trigger. To be honest, I have been going towards the wrong direction a while now. I have been allowing myself to fantasize more and the decision to start healthy masturbation might in fact have been too soon after all.
It seems like the decision to buy a fleshlight to condition my dick to more gentler sensations was a mistake as well. Not to say the fleshlight didn't work. It did its job well but I can't have a reward waiting in back of my mind while I'm trying to abstain. It just doesn't work. During the two weeks I was waiting to be permitted to masturbate again it was all I could think of! It was always in my mind. If you are on a died, a cheeseburger should not be on the back of your refrigerator waiting and reminding you...
Then when it finally got to the time to use the fleshlight I had already harbored so many thoughts that simple ten minute go with it wasn't enough. I had to do it again the next day. And that led to me missing a workout. And that led to me being lazy about triggers and boom! here we are, first looking at porn and then "what the heck might as well", just going at it like the old times. Good news I guess is that I was super sensitive and had ejaculation quite shortly. So clearly I've been doing something right in terms of regaining my sensitivity.
But here we are. I don't see many options here. I have to start taking this seriously again. No more rewards waiting. No more fantasizing or triggering internet. Sadly, I have to quit coming to nofap and pornfree as they feed into the mindset of always in mind and I tend to use these subs for procrastination. Unfortunately there are triggers sometimes as well. I'm not proud to say this obviously but the tales about abused pornstars that people sometimes post on nofap and here are a major trigger to me. My mind is still fucked up like that after the years of porn use. I hate to be turned on about someone else's misery but it is what it is.
So this is a good bye for now. Monk mode it is. It's time to start living more. This is the best option I can think of. To forget about PIED and nofap and noporn and flatline and healthy masturbation and my dick. Just get busy living and going for my goals in life. The only reddit that remains on my speed dial is r/meditation. I will of course check the replies on this post. Happy recovering, fellas.
